(REFLECTIONS ON 1 Kings 7:1-51) In 1 Kings 6:38, we read that Solomon was seven years in building the temple of the Lord. As we transition over to 1 Kings 7:1, we suddenly read about Solomon building his own house taking thirteen years to finish his entire house. 1 Kings 7 then continues describing the building […]
(REFLECTIONS ON 1 Kings 6:1-38) In today’s Scripture, we read the details of Solomon building the temple, the house of the Lord. If we read it through carefully and in detail, we will find that we have a hard time visualizing what the house of the Lord actually looked like. There are a lot of details […]
(REFLECTIONS ON 1 Kings 5:1-18) In today’s Scripture, we see Hiram the king of Tyre make an international trade agreement with Solomon. Although this might seem like an odd statement to make from Scripture, that is what it was, wasn’t it? 6 “Now therefore, command that they cut for me cedars from Lebanon, and my servants […]
(REFLECTIONS ON 1 Kings 4:1-34) Among Solomon’s officials was a priest named Zabud, the son of Nathan. Interestingly, Scripture says that Zabud was “the king’s friend” (1 Kings 4:5). (REFLECTIONS ON 1 Kings 1:1-53) As we begin reading 1 Kings, we begin at the end of a great legacy in King David. It is a reminder that no matter how great a person may be, all humanity is still limited by flesh and blood and remains affected by the reality of sin in this world. […]
(REFLECTIONS ON Colossians 4:7-18) Why are church life and corporate Christian living so important? It is because through relationships we are able to fulfill Jesus’ command to love one another, and in loving one another, we learn to love God. It is also through the ups and downs of human relationships that we learn to let […]
